THE SKY GUIDE: INSTRUMENTS & THE GUIDE TO RECREATIONAL ASTRONOMY
For several years, we have been looking for a way to increase the space devoted to instruments and practical information in the Guide du Ciel, without reducing the amount of information related to sky observation: a somewhat complex equation to solve. Our goal was also to make all these sections more attractive and readable.
This new book kills two birds with one stone, as it frees up more than 60 pages in the Guide du Ciel (see here) and, with its 160 pages, doubles the space devoted to instruments and the guide to amateur astronomy. This has allowed us to add elements to offer you a very comprehensive book on binoculars, telescopes and refracting telescopes, which will be invaluable if you are planning to purchase or upgrade your astronomical equipment.
Here is an extract from the table of contents:
- Binoculars, telescopes and refracting telescopes: understanding, purchasing and using them.
- Instrument vocabulary.
- The different types of optical instruments.
- Different types of astronomical mounts.
- Frequently asked questions.
- A test to find the right instrument for you.
- Technical specifications for over 750 instruments on the market, ranging from £80 to £900,000!
- Addresses of major retailers and manufacturers.
- Build or have your next instrument built.
- Miscellaneous: a few tips from observers...
The leisure astronomy guide provides hundreds of addresses and useful information to help you pursue your passion for the sky on a daily basis. This information is classified under dozens of headings, from A for "Actualités" (News) to Z for "Zodiaque" (Zodiac), and constitutes the most comprehensive practical directory ever published on leisure astronomy.
