A very good budget apochromatic - with some annoyances

For the price being asked this is an unbeatable deal. This 62mm apochromatic refractor is a a dual lens system, which means there will still be some noticeable residual chromatic aberration, especially on the hotter, bluer stars, but overall is an excellent choice for starting large field astrophotography. Just keep in mind that, due to the optical system, you will suffer distortion the more you go towards the edge of the field of view so, if you intend on doing astrophotography, a field flattener is also recommended.
Overall this is an excellent little scope but it still has some problems:
- The focuser isn't really that good. Although it allows for fine tuning of the focus, thanks to its dual gear focuser, I find that it tends to shift too easily under the weight of a photographic camera (either DSLR or dedicated cooled cameras). The scope does have two breaking screws to try and stop that from happening but these can easily shift the focuser out of the centre of the optical path and furthermore introduces the next problem which is:
- Balancing the scope on an equatorial mount can be difficult or down right impossible with an astro camera. This is because the lower breaking screw on the focuser prevents shifting the telescope on its saddle far enough for equilibrium to be achieved, requiring that the user either takes out the screw or buys an extra saddle or provides some other means of elevating the scope above said saddle enough that the screw won't hit it. This is not good design and is a source of extra expense on the costumer that could, and should, be avoided.
That said, if you are fine with these caveats or have some means of solving them, then this is an unbeatable deal.
